I thought Toy Story 3 was a good place to end it so was really not here for Toy Story 4 when it was announced. But then I heard Tom Hanks on BBC Radio 2 talking about how recording his final lines made him falter emotionally. So I thought ok...I'll give this a chance.

Toy Story 4 was a good place to leave it for the toys whereas 3 was Andy's ending. So I hope they don't make more now as well.

Having said that I'm a little deflated that Andy told Bonnie how special Woody is and then all *that* happened but I guess it's realistic that a little kid isn't going to understand the feelings of someone who has been there, done that in terms of growing up.

The best explanation I read for Bonnie throwing Woody aside was that she had Jessie who to her was a "girl Woody". Which is cool, Bonnie doesn't care about what some older boy thinks about his former toys, she found a female toy that was somewhat comparable to Woody. Woody giving Jessie his sheriffs badge wasn't just him promoting his little sister, it was acknowledgment that Jessie was to Bonnie what Woody was to Andy.

That's a good explanation!

I think I was looking at it too much as someone who grew up with the films rather than trying to think like Bonnie.

NGL that I have maybe seen TS1 (I really don't remember if I have or not, or if I just know some of the plots from fandom exposure), but it's weird to me to see how attached people are to it?

Huh, maybe that's why it's just 'meh' to me? I don't have a fear of abandonment?

I was 100% ready to feel sad and touched about the Toy Story 4 ending but it didn’t happen. Can’t wait for a Toy Story 5 where Jessie gets a whole movie devoted to her feels about being forgotten by THREE owners (that’s ONE more owner than Woody, gosh o_O) and being fed another meaningful message about how life works, I guess.
