Re: How do you motivate yourself to do stuff you don't want to do

I'm a pretty horrible procrastinator, but I've gotten a little better, and one of the things that sometimes helps for me is the "have empathy for your future self" technique. I imagine how I'll feel in [x amount of time] if I continue to put the thing off. Then I imagine how I'll feel if I get the thing done promptly. I know future me will feel way more shitty and tired if I don't do the thing, and the odds are good that if I do the thing future me will feel much better about myself and much more relaxed. I try to hang onto that, and use it to motivate me.
