Re: Inspired by #2
I've also tried Mort, Last Continent (got a good way into that one before losing interest), Lords & Ladies, and...one of the Watch books...Monstrous Regiment, maybe?
Never finished a one, and Last Continent is the only one I made significant progress on.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-15 11:37 am (UTC)(link)If you wanted some recs to try again (and if you don't feel free to ignore this, because I get you might be tired of them), Interesting Times feels quite like Last Continent, just a bit sharper, and both Carpe Jugulum and Witches Abroad might work for the Witch series. Or not. Wyrd Sisters was where the witch series sort of shifted, so it has a bit of a unique feel. Though, Reaper Man, from the Death series, might work. Of the Watch series, Jingo might work for you if you like a bit of a faster, weirder pace. A lot of the Watch series feels a bit denser and closer, but Jingo has an airier feel. (Monstrous Regiment is more Watch-adjacent than Watch itself, but it matches the feel of a lot of the later Watch books, so they might not be as much for you). And Small Gods might work if you want a non-series entry, though the subject matter can be a bit off-putting.
