There is more to it. Ant-Man was originally supposed to come out right after the first Iron Man movie but Wright kept putting it on the back burner to work on his personal projects. By the time he was ready to focus on Ant-Man the MCU had tied everything together and when Wright didn't want to work with it, Disney gave him the boot.

That makes total sense based on what I heard at the time. Sounds like Disney was doing the right thing, or at least making an understandable decision.

I agree! If Wright had got his ass in gear and made it according to the original plan, he would have been able to make the movie he wanted. But by the time he got around to it, things had changed greatly.

It's a pity, because I think I would have enjoyed his version more, but that's how it worked out.
