I think games have the best world building of all medias, because even when you don't have choice, or your choices don't have much if any impact on the plot, it still lets you live and explore at your own pace. It gives you a sense of control on how things are, and physically playing them makes them all the more immersive. (even when just watching tbh, too)
It has the diversity of novels, and the liveliness of video. With live action you can only do so much without cheesy cgi or an enormous budget, and details can be lost between the lines of books, so I think it's the best of both words.
