I think people who look down on popular music are ridiculous and stupid. Music is music. Who cares what other people like? Who cares what is popular? Popular music can be good. Pop music can be good. I unironically play Britney and N'Sync and Taylor Swift right beside my metal and rock artists. If it sounds good to me, why does it matter? If it doesn't sound good to you, don't listen. Don't judge others for their music taste, though.

YYYYYYYYY this. My videogame soundtracks, my country favs, my Kpop and Jpop, TSwift, Carly Rae, Katy Perry... they all get played on my playlists. Pffffffffft what anyone else thinks, I enjoy it.

Soundtracks in general are the best. I have a lot of videogame soundtracks even though I don't even play the games. And pop and R&B music. And metal. And hip hop. And classical. And classic rock. And currently some pagan/viking music/Celtic music. And even a few countries. I have very eclectic tastes.

I don't like it but I don't have to listen to it. The world is better for having more of the stuff that makes people happy. Pop music makes a lot of people happy all around the world, what's to look down on there?

Pop music is usually superficial, not very deep at all. That's why people hate on it a lot.
