As long as by "headcanon" you mean "way I interpret this character" and not "anyone who says otherwise is WRONG and an EVIL NT" I'm cool with that. But I've seen an awful lot of the latter (and not just with disability headcanons).

They don't. They mean "Autistic people (of whom I am the spokesperson because I say so) are the ultimate authority not only on who is an autistic character but how they should be portrayed, and anyone who disagrees should DIAF". Some of the vile abuse hurled at people daring to question if a character is really autistic (especially very attractive, competent people like Sherlock) has to be seen to be believed. And of course the person must backtrack, can't stick to their guns (for a FICTIONAL person, let's recall) because they are automatically hounded for being "ableist".
I avoid all fannish contact with the majority of (mostly self-diagnosed) autistic fans now. Toxic.
Yes, line up to call me an asshole, tip fedora, have what you like. Truth hurts.

I don't doubt your experiences but I think they're influencing the way you're reading the original secret. I didn't get that tone at all.
