That's normal. I know plenty of pet owners, including myself, and people won't even have pets who won't watch any kind of animal documentaries. "Here's a cute little lion cub! Aaaaaand here comes its death!" isn't particularly uplifting to watch.

My family has had cats for the past 20 years and every time one has does we've mourned for them. I now have a cat who's just mine, and she's 13. She's lived by side those 13 years and yeah, when she dies I'll be devastated.
