Wuhhhh? X-Men is a tragic franchise. That bittersweetness pervades all its storylines. We know that these people will always be persecuted, that they will always have to fight for their right to exist, with the fight often among and within themselves. Personally, that's why this franchise speaks to me in a way that other superhero franchises don't, why Wolverine is the central character (he embodies the essence of that fight in one person), and I thought Logan was the perfect coda for that. And it did end with hope, renewal, escape. Even the seemingly invincible fade and die, but a new generation lives on.

I've always seen Xavier as the central character and seen X-Men as representing hope. Even in the midst of persecution and prejudice, there is hope for a better future. There is a way out, and there is a future where acceptance will exist and where Xavier's vision will come to fruition. Days of Future Past was more of a perfect ending to the X-Men for me.
