I comment because I find this stuff interesting. “Huh, a garbage disposal. I thought those were rare outside the US . . . Well, I didn’t find out whether Japan has garbage disposals, but I did find this cool resource for determining how to dispose of garbage in Japan!” I drop my little notes on the things that jumped out to me, and if you don’t really care, you can always ignore.

Don't get me wrong, I find those details interesting myself but if I saw someone leave a comment like this on a fic, I'd assume they were nitpicking an inaccuracy and trying to act like they weren't nitpicking.
