If you could magically create a fandom (of any size or quality) for one show or property, what would it be and why?

A general Darren Shan fandom. There's a small amount of people so many years later. Lots of his books are cool, I wish more people read them.

Eurotrash Cartoon Anon still wishes for a proper fandom for LastMan. Because. Uh. What can I say, the show pushed on so many of my buttons.
I want shipping! I want more porn! I want fic and art for characters and pairings I don't like so we'll have more variety!!

A small but active fanfic-writing fandom for Space:1999, AKA that 70's sci-fi show no one remembers.

Last New Years, Comet TV had a "Party Like it's Space 1999" marathon, so at least their programming department remembers it.

Yes this! Also, one for UFO, Space:1999's odd, cold war-ish, space invasion sort-of-predecessor.

I would take an active fandom for 70s sci-fi in general. I have such a soft spot for it. Space1999 was particularly awesome :)

I remember it.

I kinda miss fandom-centered roleplay MUDs. Don't know how you'd do that with the large-scale active trolling of today.

The easiest way would be a monthly subscription like some MUDs used to do. Even if it's 99 cents a month. Raise the bar to entry even a little bit, require the least bit of commitment, and trolls fade away

I guess Galavant, because if it’d been as popular as, say, Game of Thrones, I think it would’ve lasted more than two seasons.

I actually posted a secret about this here years ago, but I would create a fandom for Galaxy Quest that styled itself as the fandom of the original show, and people would do things like make elaborate faux-mimeographed fanzines full of completely serious fic about Doctor Lazarus and shit, and making up guest characters to cosplay, and "Here's a classic filk song I wrote in 1983" and so on.

That sounds cool as shit! I love it! :D

BTW, I'm still convinced that Tony Shaloub's character having an Asian name in Galaxy Quest is an in joke referring to Dr. Soong having been played by Brent Spiner.

An actual, active, English-language fandom for Spirou et Fantasio. ~~With minimal Tintin overlap kthnx~~

Z-Nation. So much potential for ships and memes.

An active mythology fandom.

That would be awesome. And one for more than just Greek and Roman mythologies.

Active writing fandoms for a bunch of older TV shows, really.

Particularly a 60s paranormal spy show called The Champions, off the top of my head. A trio of secret agents based in Geneva who are given paranormal abilities (including a psychic bond with each other) after crash landing in Shangri La in the pilot. There’s a lot that a modern fanfic audience could do with that premise (and OT3).

Also, a cheesy 80s action show called Tales of the Gold Monkey, set in the WWII-era South Pacific. Specifically I want a bunch of fanfic, especially h/c fanfic, for Roddy McDowall’s mysterious bar tender-slash-governor character with the expansion pack past that included having fought in WWI, having almost been executed by guillotine (the blade wouldn’t drop), and having been imprisoned in Devil’s Island and watched weakened people die of malaria. Among other things.

Come to think of it, I wouldn’t mind h/c fanfic for a few cheesy 80s action shows. Possibly because they tended to gloss over personal consequences a lot.

A bigger fandom for Danny Phantom , one that makes music for it, fanamations enough fic for a private fic archive. Maybe conventions would be too much (though the idea of a Phantom convention sounds awesome). But a limited amount of wank and shitty fans. None if possible. I do wish more fandoms made fan music.

Not necessarily a dream fandom, but it would be nice to talk about Dear White People. I finished watching season 3.
