Volunteering to help me cook, especially if they don't have any knife skills, etc. I'm not a professional chef by any means, but I'm a competent home cook and I work best alone. It's rare that someone is competent enough not to slow me down or distract me AND has the sense to keep out of my way and coordinate what needs to be done properly. 95% of the time, I can get the task done faster and more efficiently by myself.

If you want to socialize, ASK and accept a "no thanks" graciously. Don't ask if I'm sure, ffs.

Volunteering to help me cook

People are going to offer, though, at least until you've explained that you genuinely don't want their help. Because most people will feel they are being rude if they don't offer. Growing up, if I was in the room with my mother while she was making dinner and I didn't offer to help, I'd be scolded. I have friends who would be outright yelled at by their fathers if their mother was cooking and they weren't helping.

However, if you make it clear to them that you'd genuinely rather do it yourself, and they insist on helping, then that seems unreasonable of them.
