CW pet injury
(Anonymous) 2019-08-04 03:42 am (UTC)(link)Tonight when I went to close the coop, she was standing in the corner next to an egg without a shell, not roosting with the other hens. I set up the dog crate she stayed in after her first surgery and brought her inside. She clucked at me when I picked her up and I noticed her feet were muddy. Then I realized her intestines were hanging out.
There are no vets open tomorrow where I am, and I take public transit. Should I try to find an emergency vet and take a lyft there to have her put down tonight, or just leave her in the dog crate until Monday, or what? I’m supposed to work tomorrow and Monday. Fuck, I noticed her off by herself earlier today and thought she was just looking for a place to lay an egg. I feel guilty.

(Anonymous) 2019-08-04 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)If she's in pain and there's nowhere else to go with her care then I'd get her put down asap. No point in drawing out her suffering :(

(Anonymous) 2019-08-04 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)I wish I had started my new job a month ago; I would’ve gotten her the repair surgery already, but even if not I would have Sundays off and enough money to take a lyft three times in one day (to the vet and back and then to work) and pay emergency vet fees. Sigh. I guess I’ll call the vet and see how much they charge, but I really wish I could spring for someone to come here and spare her the trip. I did it for my second dog and it made such a difference for her to be somewhere familiar and not have to be loaded into a car.
