Action movies with bodily injuries in general. Like I get it, it’s not cool to have your hero lying limp on the floor after getting shot, but they’re also not going to be able to run around full tilt after okay?

Blunt force trauma is also not something you can ‘just walk off’.

OMFG, this. Please. I had surgery on the abdomen and with pain meds and whatnot, it was *very* hard to sit up, move around, etc. Having a stab-wound to the gut pretty much precludes you *running* and then *leaping* onto a retreating boat, landing basically gut-first. Jeez.

You might be surprised. Adrenaline is weird. Sometimes you really don't feel injured at all even when you very clearly are. If your body is conditioned to being damaged you might have a lot of trouble distinguishing serious injuries too. Very very common for athletes and it's why there are constantly changing guidelines about head and neck injuries.

I coached and competed in an extreme sport discipline and we have to train kids to stay in place after a fall if they're not in immediate danger. They're actually more likely not to stay down if they're badly hurt. Your instinct is to bounce back to your feet and keep moving and your brain will do it on autopilot if your body is intact enough to cooperate, sometimes to your detriment.
