Could be because "Marry the Man Today" -- in which Sarah and Adelaide decide to marry their men and reform them later -- was one of 5 songs cut from the film to make room for 3 new songs.

OP: That could be it - I could remember the existence of that number, but I couldn't remember where in the musical it came.

Second-to-last number in the stage production, if the synopsis on Wikipedia is correct.

Three new songs, written by Frank Loesser, were added to the film: "Pet Me Poppa"; "A Woman in Love"; and "Adelaide", which was written specifically for Sinatra. Five songs from the stage musical were omitted from the movie: "A Bushel and a Peck", "My Time of Day", "I've Never Been In Love Before", "More I Cannot Wish You", and "Marry the Man Today".

(I've never seen the film, but it makes me a little sad that they cut "Bushel and a Peck" -- I can still recall singing that in a high school production a long long time ago.)

I've seen the movie and I own the soundtrack, but I can't necessarily remember which tracks are in which.
I like "A Woman in Love", but "My Time of Day" and "I've Never Been In Love Before" are just so beautiful, and "A Bushel and A Peck" is way better than "Pet Me Poppa".

I've seen the live musical and i like it so much better than the movie!

P.S. Frank probably had a problem with playing a character who his wife intended to reform, haha.

It's not uncommon in adaptations. Look at Thoroughly Modern Mindy where she found out her love interest was her brother.

Also My Fair Lady adding more romance, and Breakfast at Tiffanys.
