That's a reasonable point. It's definitely not unique to this game though, or even to video games - I think it's definitely more pronounced with video games but it's really hard to make a story about war that's consistently anti-war.

I actually do think, as a general rule, you shouldn't make video games about wars that are still within living memory for pretty much this reason. There's just too much weight and complexity to adequately deal with.
