from non horror movies/shows?

I wasn't "terrified" per se but IIRC The Dark Crystal had some pretty dark shit in it for a kids movie

I loved "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" when I was a kid, I thought the darkness and the humor balanced out really nicely and made for a super fun watch, but that shoe!! That poor shoe!! I still can't watch that poor shoe get Dipped, it's too visceral and upsetting to me.

I remember that too, creepy. D:

I really liked that movie, but even as an adult, I still sometimes have bad dreams with that poor little show getting dipped.

That scene, and the main villain in general still gives me the goddamn heebie jeebies. Like it's just... fucking creepy.

I was just going to mention that scene myself! Yes. Fully agreed.

Oh my god, the shoe scene. That freaked me out. It was so creepy and sadistic.

The creepy tunnel scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has always stuck with me.

The ice cream scene from Pippi Longstocking.

People being turned into puppets in Unico and the Island of Magic.

That should be Unico IN the Island of Magic. I literally wrote it correctly a minute before I posted this, gah.

The kids turning into donkeys in Pinocchio.

SO much of Pinocchio disturbed me as a child and I always found it rather unpleasant. I got older and realized the movie was basically just telling kids "be good or bad things will happen to you" (in my opinion anyway) It's just never sat well with me.

The Lion King. Not Mufasa's death, but the scene where Scar is king and he's angry with the lionesses.

Quite honestly nothing. I kept hunting for media that could scare me. I'd sneak up at night to watch horror movies. Nothing ever scared me, though.

Westly getting killed by the machine in The Princess Bride.

Chekhov falling and getting hurt in Star Trek IV.

When the emperor skeksis dies at the beginning of The Dark Crystal and his face falls apart.

Freaking Triton. My gosh that guy scared me more than Ursula. Especially the scene where he destroys all of Ariels cove.

THIS. I remember waiting in line at the theater and being scared just seeing him on the poster (that angry expression and pointy weapon tipped me off I guess), but the cove scene solidified it.

I was Gertie's age when E.T. came out and the scene in the cornfield was absolutely terrifying. The government agents in their hazmat suits were pretty bad, but not anywhere near as much.

They had a live action TV miniseries of Alice in Wonderland in 1985 and the Jabberwocky was like a puppet, I think. But it nightmarish.

The Last Crusade when the guy drinks from the wrong cup and turns to dust.

The boo box from Hook.

The shoe scene from Roger Rabbit.

When Ursula took Ariel's voice on the Little Mermaid.

Temple of Doom was on at someone's house when I was a kid and the scene where the guy rips out the other guy's heart scared me so much I didn't watch any of the rest of the Indy movies till I was in college

The entirety of All Dogs Go to Heaven.

The Tom and Jerry cartoon reel called "Heavenly Puss" where Tom goes to Heaven but then gets sent to Hell. I was really young when I saw it.

IIRC quite a lot of The Secret Of Nimh scared me. The sinking house scene and the cat both spring to mind, but I seem to recall being kind of creeped out/anxious throughout.

the pink elephants in dumbo

i don't even remember why, i don't remember the scene, i just remember having a deep aversion to ever rewatching that movie and that it had something to do with pink elephants
