So, I'm an iconist. I use fanart. Without credit.

The things is, I get all my pictures from 4chan /rs/ folders (:D;;;)

...How the hell am I supposed to find credit for all that?

If a fanartist saw my icons and left a comment asking me to credit them, I'd totally do it.

Sometimes it's not because 'omg we r so mean' it's just that we can't.

So. Maybe contact the iconists before the artists.

Me, personally, I'd be glad anyone was making icons of my art, I couldn't care less about credit D:

Then don't use the fanart and make the icons. You don't have to go searching long and hard for credit if you don't want to. But how do you know some of those artists have said they don't want icons/anything made out of their art? You can go for the contrary and say "How do you know they won't care?", too. But it's seriously just as simple as not using the fanart. There's still screencaps, posters, magazine ads, and merchadise images too. There's still stuff to make icons of.

I mean, I bet the whole community/group showing part is probably the only reason to see the movie. I actually saw it on VH1 a few years back and I practically changed the channel about half-an-hour into it, it was so boring. (I was like "... When's it supposed to be funny?" I loves me some black/dark comedy, but I was getting NO amusement from the movie whatsoever)

The only positive thing I can say about RHPS is that 'Time Warp' is a good song... but that's about it. (Heck, even Tim Curry doesn't really like RHPS either, or so I've heard)

Uncredited fanart icons don't but me so much in and of themselves.

What bothers me is 1) the hyporcisy of some icon makers who ask for icon credit despite not giving fanart credit and 2) finding icons made from art that comes from sites that SPECIFICALLY SAY "PLEASE DO NOT REPRODUCE MY ART". Despite the fact that they are unlikely to come to LJ and see their art being used it still feels disrespectful, and when one or two artists DO find out they make it harder to find their fanart in the first place and others follow suit. Is it so difficult to simply NOT icon uncredited fanart you find on 4chan?
