#120; I cannot agree more. I loved Charlie and cried when I heard they'd, y'know. I couldn't watch that show for a whole season after. I'll never love that show like I did again. It was so beautiful and romantic and painful.

#131; I understand your outrage, people stealing art is lame and not cool to the talented people who work so hard. That being said, I think that sometimes icons are just ways for people to appreciate the art. I always always ask before making an icon, I've made one and gave credit to the artist too. So its not always thievery.

First, I'll say that this is IF she updates. IF.
I think considering how many times she's openly stated that she hates gays and thinks crossdressers/drag queens are gross (pfft, way to be a coward about your views when your manga is FULL OF GAY), it may not be something too openly stated. And personally, I think the atmosphere between those two feels different enough after Kyoto that it's implied that there's something different between them. Of course, that's obvious, all things considering. But it leaves happy fangirls like us to interpret it as we choose ;)

102: It looks like she's showing herself off, and she's got a self-confident posture. I see no problem! A little sexual objectification of fictional characters doesn't have to be bad, as long as the character itself isn't seen as nothing but a tool to satisfy the male audience's kinks.

108: I think the narrow, slanted, Asian eyes with that way the eyelid is folded is extremely sexy. *blushes* Ahem. Anyway, just saying that not all media ideals are universally seen as beautiful. Try and work with your body to find your beauty, not against it.

137: it may not be my most favourite anime, but it was definitely very good. And I loved the music.

143: Sometimes a simple analysis of a character or a pairing can be taken as an attack, though. Some people just can't distinguish between critique and bashing, and that goes for both writers and readers of a stated opinion.

152: Hah, yes, these things will happen. XD I dislike CidxVin with an unreasonable fervour; these sort of pictures only make me laugh. It's not like it's widely shipped...

152: I think highly of people who picks it apart with well-aimed wit and irony. I'm not fond of bashing.

158: Most girls have to identify with male characters when they're little, since there aren't many female ones. People seem to forget that little girls have as many heroic dreams of adventure as little boys.

108 - You know, I'm half Asian. There is only one reason I would want to look more Asian--so people will stop denying my heritage even when I tell them outright that I am half Vietnamese.

The thing is, wanting to look 'more Asian' isn't a far leap from trying to fit all the traditional expectations of being Asian. Lemme tell you from my experience--I tried to fit all of my extended families' expectations and I nearly destroyed myself as a result.

I was bullied about my weight--even though I was never considered fat. I wasn't 'thin enough' in my Aunt's eyes. It didn't even seem to matter that my weight would increase, but after puberty, my clothes' sizes were getting smaller--all she saw was the number on the scale when she made me step on. Another Aunt teased me for being too much like a boy, but I didn't tell her it was because I knew that it was what my dad had really wanted. The only people who placed expectations on me that I didn't mind were my grandparents, who were proud of my intelligence, and told me to teach my little cousins and protect them. But because my father eventually became abusive, and I couldn't speak out against him to my family, I developed an uncontrollable rage that I fought desperately to channel as being protective--but then I was jumping at the chances for fights, even if people so much as laughed at my cousins. It certainly didn't help that my father's tendency for violence ended up making me faster and stronger than most people in my age range and older. =\

Things are ok now--because I eventually said 'fuck this shit'.

Anyhow, tl;dr--be happy with you. It is far more satisfying to be told 'you look confident' rather than 'you look Asian/White/European/etc'.

I am so right there with you. Well, not really, because I haven't seen it, but I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to even contemplate watching it.

And so I really don't understand why when I told a co-worker that I didn't want to watch it, his response the next day was "Oh, I meant to bring Rocky Horror Picture Show so you could borrow it!"
