1. Thank you OP, I appreciate you very much.

2. My bf told me about this and it spawned a 15 rant about how utterly nonsensical it was because aside form being the baby of a giant spider-demon Shelob is not actually in any way capable of casting magic. She's just a big fuckoff spider that eats people. Why they picked her of all creatures will never make sense to me, just make-up an evil elf-lady if you want sexy-evil female, that wouldn't be quite so out there(I'm not sure if evil-elves are about in the 3rd age, but the idea of that bothers me so much less than making the giant person-eating spider-monster a sexy-lady).

There is a First Age vampire-lady servant of Sauron named Thuringwethil. They could have just pretended she survived or had kids or something.

Ohooo, I didn't know Tolkien had vampires in his lore that's pretty interesting, and I'm guessing rare-ish as well? Also, that certainly is a name. xD

But there you go, an evil-lady in the lore they could have easily put in and would make more sense than Shelob.

Yup. She serves as Sauron's messenger. She does die in the first age, but they seem willing enough to mess with canon.
