I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Everything is soft and smooth.

Stalker!Anakin notwithstanding, another major issue with the prequels is that so much hinges on the Anakin/Padme romance, and not only did the actors have more chemistry with the droids than with each other, the narrative doesn't provide much support beyond "it's romantic because it's forbidden!" Particularly on Padme's end -- it just seems like Anakin wore her down eventually.

I kind of wonder if it just wasn't a good role for Portman after all the creepy countdown clock bullshit she went through.
