I don't know a single person who uses condoms irl and it's fucking horrifying. Not a single friend of mine does. I don't know how people can be so fucking dumb.

With a monogamous partner and with the knowledge that a baby might happen, I think that's okay, but... I assume you mean just in general? That's kind of scary. Do they at least have other forms of birth control? Not that it does anything for STDs, but...

Oh, if it's monogamous couples then go nuts, but my friends are single and have sex with different people. One of them has HPV and I'm pretty sure she never discloses this to the men she sleeps with. It makes me cringe every time.

Also, my HPV friend relies on the pull out method. So many people I know rely on that method and it's just so horrifying to me that people can be so irresponsible and reckless with their health.

I know a lot of people who rely on the pull out method too. One of them had an oopsie baby because of it.

One of my acquaintances had two accidental kids as a result of the pull out method. She struggles with addiction issues, depression, and has sketchy men around her two daughters often. It's all a really depressing situation and makes me really despise how careless some people are.

Oh god, that's...yeah, that's not good. I strongly prefer no condoms in my smutty fanfic, but I also feel strongly about people always using STD protection when they're having casual sex. Or even if they're dating but haven't gotten serious yet, honestly.

I just don't feel it's the responsibility of fanfic to give people these lessons. At all. Plus, all my ships are committed as fuck before they ever have sex, so even if people were to get their lessons from the fics I read, the lesson would still be, "not using a condom when you know each other inside out and literally trust your partner with your life is...probably ok."

I feel like irl that condoms should be compulsory among casual sex or when first hooking up with someone. I'm frankly stunned that people don't do that, but I suppose they think STDs won't happen to them. Hell, I haven't even ever had a sexual experience, and I got oral herpes just from making out with a random dude at a bar. I know people are like "meh, herpes isn't fatal so no biggie", but it's a painful disease that has been plaguing me at random for years now since I've been diagnosed, never mind how expensive meds like Valtrex are. I can't image playing Russian roulette like that with your nether regions.
