Oh god, that's...yeah, that's not good. I strongly prefer no condoms in my smutty fanfic, but I also feel strongly about people always using STD protection when they're having casual sex. Or even if they're dating but haven't gotten serious yet, honestly.

I just don't feel it's the responsibility of fanfic to give people these lessons. At all. Plus, all my ships are committed as fuck before they ever have sex, so even if people were to get their lessons from the fics I read, the lesson would still be, "not using a condom when you know each other inside out and literally trust your partner with your life is...probably ok."

I feel like irl that condoms should be compulsory among casual sex or when first hooking up with someone. I'm frankly stunned that people don't do that, but I suppose they think STDs won't happen to them. Hell, I haven't even ever had a sexual experience, and I got oral herpes just from making out with a random dude at a bar. I know people are like "meh, herpes isn't fatal so no biggie", but it's a painful disease that has been plaguing me at random for years now since I've been diagnosed, never mind how expensive meds like Valtrex are. I can't image playing Russian roulette like that with your nether regions.
