"Reach out to" is like nails on a chalkboard to me. It's so new-agey-touchy-feely-lovey-dovey and it takes three times as long to say (or type) as "call".

"reach out to" could have some use, because who literally phone calls anyone any more? Everyone assumes calls are spam. If they meant "tried to contact in some unspecified form, whether through text or email or DM or whatever" then I think it makes sense

I still think it has its place. "We reached out to BigCorp for comment, but have not heard back" is common in news, and has a pretty useful meaning there. Whereas "we tried to get a hold of BigCorp" is pretty awkward

On the other hand words like "synergy" and all that business jargon is literally made up to sound fancy and doesn't have useful meanings to contribute
