I was off work today so I slept in for 2 blissful and much needed hours. When I got up I goofed off on the internet awhile, then I dressed and ran a few errands, went grocery shopping, got a tea from my favorite boba place, and picked up a copy of a new comic that came out today. Came home and read the comic while sipping my tea. Right now I'm just relaxing and waiting for the Oakland A's game to start. I'll be getting to bed early tonight because I'm working tomorrow.

Work, and then because they had to fix a main break in front of my house yesterday, the water utility said I could come pick up a free filter pitcher that removes lead, so I did. Now i need to make my lunch for tomorrow.

3 court hearings, 1 of which didn't happen. So I had to get up at 6 to make sure I could make it on time. Then I had a career fair form 11-2, only that didn't happen on account of the people I was there to see not showing up. I went home and took a 2 hour nap since I had a splitting headache. And now since then I've been working on an asylum packet that is due tomorrow, other than a short dinner break.

Tomorrow is just as busy. In the morning I have to talk with 2 different attorneys and pick up several files. I have 2 afternoon hearings and then a doctor's appointment. Then I have a research project that is due by Friday that I have to finish.

Fed chickens, got mad at my only friend for being late to pick me up (she has been on time about four times in our 5-6 years of friendship), contemplated the sweet release of death.

Tried to come up with a plan to pay off my debt and still pay my tuition on time. Ended up feeling a little sick at how much I owe and how little I have, so I read a book and now I'm looking to see if I can fit a third job into my schedule.

Finished packing for DragonCon! It's my first vacation on my ownsome and I am intimidated as heck, but, goddamnit, I'm not gonna put this stuff on hold just because my BFF went and had twins, setting back the BFF Vacay timer another few years.

Tried to feed my one disabled hen and mostly ended up just giving her water because she hasn’t been eating. :-( Fed the other hens and the cat. Went to work, did actual work followed by some dumb online training things. Just got home, gotta feed all the critters again, shower, go for a walk, make lunch for tomorrow, and go to sleep, hopefully at a reasonable hour. Currently willing myself to get off the couch where my cat has decided I should stay and be her designated nap spot.

For all the things you want to vent about.

I signed up for a career fair advertised and run by the local newspaper. They weren't having any legal employers. I was specifically going because they were having resume and cover letter critique. Only, the people who were supposed to do that just decided not to show up. So I had a wasted trip.

Also, I had three hearings this morning at two different courts. Turns out the first one had been rescheduled and the court never sent out notification. I could have been to the other hearings earlier and saved myself some driving and hassle.

How hard is it to notify people when things change?

Ugh, that sounds like a pain. A phone call or text is literally nothing, yet they can't be bothered? Lame.

I've been doing this online course that my job service agency (government subcontractors who are supposed to help unemployed people find work) signed me up for. It's shit - for one thing, I'm not sure the people running this course know what an editor is, let alone bothering to hire one - and it's jus been a miserable, tedious grind.
Anyway, I haven't done the work for the last week or two, and yesterday I got a missed call from one of the course staff telling me to talk to them about why I was behind on my work.
I'm not sure I want to tell them that their coursework is so badly written they're making my depression worse, but at the same time I sort of do?

I hate not being able to brush my hair well. I get the stitches out Friday but until then I am itchy and have to wear a hat.

Well, it finally happened. A creator in one of my fandoms (actually a former creator, but he made some of the best stuff) turned out to be a shitbag. And as much as I believe one's enjoyment of media shouldn't have to depend on the creators not being shit, it turns out what I believe is a distant second to what other people think of me, so I'm waiting and worrying about whether it'll be considered okay to still dick around in the fandom as usual. At least kids weren't involved, which to me would raise his actions from one level of unforgivable to another, like different levels of infinity in math. Why can't people stop turning out to be horrible.

I am a sensitive little fucking baby who just cried over a FATE in FFXIV (which is basically a recurring timed quest) because I failed it once before and felt terrible, but "winning" felt even worse. I'm seriously inconsolable and it's the stupidest thing ever. I'm so embarrassed at myself it's physically painful but I can't stop being upset. It's not like it even had any bearing on the story!! It's just a pointless mini-quest!!

I keep getting flat tires on my bike. I probably need newer, better tires at the very least, but I don't think it's worth putting any money into my crappy old bike. So I guess I'm looking at buying a new bike, which I can't really afford. But I don't drive and my bike is the only way I have to get back and forth to work so it needs to be reliable.

A friend booked a course for a creative activity I always wanted to try as a birthday gift for both of us. It's on this weekend and I am looking forward to it a lot.
But I'm also anxious as hell. Because I dread that the person doing the instructions will ask about what we're doing for work (as people tend to do for small talk) and I'm in a complicated situation re: unemployment and really don't want to talk about it. But I feel like just saying "I'm not working right now" usually leads to more questions and adding "I don't really want to talk about it" sounds super defensive and comes across as rude...

So I can't really be excited about it all even though it's something I've always wanted to do.

What weird tropes or media details do you love?

Fictional history of fictional worlds. Sometimes it is even more interesting than whatever is currently going on. And fictional maps as well. Give me all the fictional maps. I don't even like real world maps, so I'm not sure why I like them in fiction.

By the same token, fictional psychology and sociology and culture bits. Anything I can know about your world. The culture of the different people and species. How psychology varies in the different cultures and species. How the varied history has changed sociology in your world. Anything like that. Just, anything that tells me how your world works.

For tv, any time a show still has full credits. I just like watching credits.

Closeups on an anime character's face and eyes when they're tearing up. I have no idea why I like that so much.
