[Image: A bottle of poison, with a green liquid inside.]

Text: I initially heard the phrase “poise and rationality” from “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” as “poisoned rationality”

Frankly, I think my version fits the tone of the song better.

After all, the singer certainly seems to be responding to the revelation in a faux-cheerful way—seems pretty poisonous to me.

I don’t even own a copy of this song; why am I so insistent on hearing/singing it that way?

And I have only just learned that it is not in fact 'poisoned rationality' so uh, you're really not alone OP. xD

I knew it was "poise and rationality" 'cause I liked to sing along with the CD booklet when I first got the album, but I like your version better.

I had the CD booklet and still thought it was "poisoned rationality"

Reminds me of how I always hear that Fall Out Boy song 'Sugar, We're Going Down' as:

"We're going duh duh,
inaneelierround,
and sugar we're going down swinging"

These singers need to enunciate.

"Poise and rationality" is pretty clearly enunciated. It's probably just a matter of poison being a more familiar word than poise.

I was kidding, but did a poor job of expressing that it was a joke. I'm just straight up deaf.

I never had trouble with "Sugar, We're Going Down", but there are a few other FOB songs where I have no idea what Patrick's singing without searching for the lyrics.

This makes me laugh every time I hear/see it (NSFW)
