That misled is pronounced miss-lead. I always pronounced it missile-d in my head. I knew what it meant, I had just never said it out loud. And while I probably have heard it, I just didn't make the connection between the two words.

:) That's okay. Years ago, my sister was reading from a book and mispronounced the word "barroom" as buh-ROOM. We all laughed, but now EVERY TIME I see that word I begin to mispronounce it, then catch myself. It's been well over twenty years!

I don't think I've ever seen the word barroom! I had to google what it was because I didn't know what it was.

I did mean lead pipe. I forgot about the other way lead us pronounced. Damn you English!

I always understood it in the way that miss-led (as in lead pipe) was past-tense, and miss-leed (as in leader) was present-tense? Or something like that... The more I think about it the more confused I get.
