for one a lot of them don't rp in hubs with all the non-roleplayers. it's ridiculously easy finding an area where no one jumps in your face
hell even in the capital cities in wow there's areas where you can rp in peace with no or barely any interruptions.

also it's not like... hard to ignore unless they start to troll you. i'm really wondering what setting you rp in that is more immersive? is text on screen more believable to you? or sitting in a room with your friends? i don't find either of those any harder or easier to roleplay in

Listen, LJ/DW/Tumblr RP where Batman's OOC username is GrumpyBatface and he for some reason inexplicably keeps an online blog and ignores the fact that other people on the same network are posting explicit Batman/Joker porn and spam bots keep posting comments telling him to buy dick pills is more immersive by far.
