Wow, I could have made this secret. Same, OP. I don’t dislike Bucky, but at the same time, I really couldn’t care less about him either. I’m hoping the TV show will change that, because I feel like I should care, but....I don’t.

I kinda get this. I actually feel sorry for Bucky fans because recent promo gave off the impression he'd have more than like three lines in IW/EG. Even in Civil War it was sometimes like the directors and writers resented having to have him there and they did the bare minimum they could get away with doing with him.

Ha, yeah. To be honest though, it feels like the MCU does that for every character who doesn't have their own solo movie.

I will put my hand up, I was defensive over the MCU for years but two-three hours at a time every year or two is just not enough time to develop some of the "so complex" plots and character development that I see other fans praising the franchise about. Phase 3 completely turned me into a "complex plots and character development...where?" person.

What's tragic is that a lot of the not-main characters could have had interesting back stories turned into future stories, but they became slaves to a plot that served around only three of the actual main characters. Even some of the allegedly main characters suffered this! I long for the days that I had naive hope that the MCU would be different to all the other multi-character franchises.

nayrt but yes to all of this. The movies are so big, so focused on the action and hitting a few major plot points that characterization is a super low priority. There's no way to do otherwise if a minor character only gets a handful of lines per movie, and most of them not terribly significant ones, either.

I was probably doing it wrong but my investment in the MCU really was mostly due to how characters related and interacted with one another. It was the promise of that keeping me around. It's no surprise I'm essentially mentally checked out now...

Case in point I don't care if it's cheesy, I was a sucker for "happy families with occasional angst and action" post Avengers (2012) fic.

Weren't you only in it for Loki? And not even Taika!Loki at that? Yeah no, that ship sailed after the snoozefest that was The Dark World.

Love the font. I can see them having a wacky road trip.

Ah, well. I'll just love him more for you. :D

...might actually make me care about Bucky Sam.

100% of my affection for Movie Bucky is a hold over from Comics Bucky. The MCU figured it was enough that Cap cared for him, but it's really not. Now I'm just kind of salty that it's so much harder to find Comics Bucky fic.

I'm really interested in this show, I hope it's good.

I could have made this secret... I'm hoping that seeing Bucky have a fleshed out relationship with someone who ISN'T Steve will like... make me feel something. I liked him fine in the first Cap movie but after that was just really turned off of him. I like the actor but Bucky just leaves me cold and instead of giving him his own development, it always seems to be all about how much Steve cares about him, which... I don't know. It just doesn't do it for me.

But I like Sam and I want to see him get more fleshed out, too, and if he and Bucky can play off each other, it could be fun.

MCU Bucky has no personality and I couldn't give a single fuck about him and his angst.

That said, I'm in the show for Sam and Sharon. Hopefuly they'll stop fucking up good characters for boring ass white dudes.

I'm into this show for Bucky, Sharon and Zemo. It might make Sam interesting enough for me to start caring about him, but I doubt it.
