I think The Second Best Marigold Hotel did this, too.

I think that is a real thing - people practice doing a choreographed dance number for a wedding - and I don't think it's exclusively Indian, like, at a western wedding the bridal party might do the Thriller dance or something.

I've seen some Western weddings doing that, but it always seemed sort of contrived and precious. The Indian ones seemed slightly more natural? Who knows. Weddings are so damn boring, anything to liven them up. :D
