NAYRT—yeah, as an 80s kid I remember moral lessons in children’s media having all the subtle delicacy of a sudden rain of anvils. I would’ve loved fewer “now remember, children...” bludgeon moments.

This. Speaking on a general level here, it always amuses me when people act like TV shows (or movies, or books, or music) having messages and getting preachy and political is somehow a recent phenomenon.
