(Anonymous) 2019-09-27 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)2. They also don't look like wolves. Wolves are much, much bigger. So some CGI would still be needed.
3. Filing with any ol' pound dog just doesn't work. Movie animals are trained for quite a while, usually. And its often quite stressful, especially if the animal isn't used to it.

(Anonymous) 2019-09-27 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)I cant imagine someone looking at a husky or german shepherd and being like "yeah boy, that's a wolf" unless they aren't familiar with both animals.
Huskies are pretty small. They aren't even considered "large" dogs. They're like 50 pounds.

(Anonymous) 2019-09-27 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)What they used are Northern Inuit dogs (avg. weight ~100lb) not huskies (avg. weight ~50lb).

(Anonymous) 2019-09-28 12:01 am (UTC)(link)For a smaller dog that actually resembles a wolf, look up the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. Also ~50lb, but much closer to wolf in looks than a husky.

That and I imagine that getting a bunch of trained dogs to play were-wolves is probably more expensive than adding in a CGI wolf?

(Anonymous) 2019-09-28 12:48 am (UTC)(link)We have enough problems in the US w/ law enforcement mistaking huskies for wolves w/o Hollywood adding fuel to the flames. This is also how people get duped into thinking they are getting wolfdog crosses and aren't. CGI is fine.
There are performance wolves they could hire in the US and probably in Europe. Britain managed to kill all their wolves. (But hey, panthers escaped the zoo and they have wild those now.)
Also, echoing that wolves look nothing like huskies and German shepherds. Red wolves (endangered) have similar coloring to cattle dogs, but that's about it.

(Anonymous) 2019-09-28 02:22 am (UTC)(link)For some things, I'd think the solution would be a professional trainer with a wolf mix, but that doesn't always work for a shoot either.
Might as well use a cat...
(Anonymous) 2019-09-28 08:17 am (UTC)(link)I don't know about that.
