I really don't understand why Bakugou from BNHA is so popular. He's an asshole and he doesn't even really have much of a reason for being one? His family seems perfectly loving, he doesn't seem to have experienced any trauma and other kids thought he was cool. I want to see what other people do in him but I just find him obnxious.

Also as far as BNHA goes, I think the big arcs are great and fun to read but the moment it gets into traditional shounen filler bullshit training or tournament or mock battle arcs I lose all interest and fall behind.

I also dislike Bakugou. I appreciate that he's a teenager and he's learning and growing as a person and becoming less of a pulsating boil on the arse of humanity, but I don't like him and I doubt I ever will.
Telling someone to kill themself in the first chapter will do that.

......i didn't not believe you/op, just had zero memory of those people.
Ms Jorkins seems to have been hit with an extreme version of the spell - her brain damage seemed to be an outlier, rather than the expected outcome.

Didn't Ron become an Auror (again, no clue, haven't read the last book in ages)? Would an Auror or any witch/wizard be allowed to go around randomly brain-damaging a Muggle?

No, erasing people's memories isn't nice, or acceptable. But saying they have brain damage is a bit of a stretch.

I'm with you OP. I'm totes fine with trans fic I just don't want to read it myself, doesn't do anything for me.
I recently came across a fic where Loki turned out to be a hemaphrodite. I guess it makes sense, him being a demi-god and all (and in the mythology he could fall pregnant but then all types of crazy stuff happened in the mythology that they couldn't possibly put in the Marvel films). There was a lot of description of Loki's female genitalia and it noped me out of the fic.

I'm with you there, OP. If it's tagged, great, then I can avoid it. But if not, shame on those writers. :/

ugh yeah, and i feel like it would need an additional warning even on top of that? because usually dubcon is stuff where attraction/desire exists but the circumstances aren't fully consensual, like sex pollen/intoxication, coercion, stuff like that where it's "character does want to have sex but probably not under these conditions." if it's "character doesn't actually want to have sex at all" then i feel like that comes way closer to noncon than dubcon.

Me too. If the canon itself left me satisfied, I have zero interest in creating fanworks for it.

Or that you won't still be affected by whatever it is. I knew about the major character death in my fandom going in and I STILL bawled when I actually saw it happen onscreen.

I thought the finals were awesome, but then again I was really rooting for the team who ended up winning.

I was rooting for the Shock as well, I just wish it was more competitive. Vancouver went out with a whimper.

DA - I don't think a dubcon tag or a noncon tag are right, because in this kind of situation consent isn't the issue. It's fully consensual. What it really needs is a specific tag that denotes "character doesn't like sex but has it anyway because their partner does." But yeah, it's definitely understandable readers would want to know to expect that before it hit them in the face.

I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If A really likes B, but doesn't like sex at all, but offers because they think they're supposed to for whatever reason and B likes A and thinks A is offering sex because they want to have sex, I'm not sure it's noncon in the traditionally understood sense of the word, but it's probably dubcon because both parties are not on the same page when it comes to what they're actually consenting to. If A and B really like each other and B coerces A into sex despite knowing that A's reluctant and A accepts because they think they have to for the sake of the relationship, then that's falling more into noncon territory, regardless of A's sexuality.

Kirk choosing to only mention his humanity was a statement, not a way to exclude his Vulcan half. He means it in the way of a complement. That his soul was more pure and true than anyone else's. In the way Bones always called Spock a computer or heatless, Kirks statement contests that. I'm doing a really shitty job at trying to explain myself, and I get what you're getting at, but I just don't agree.

(Anonymous) 2019-09-30 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I actually stopped reading any Loki related fic because the whole untagged surprise!intersex Loki was just so damn common.

I think the SU movie put in a lot of foreshadowing about how Spinel was an unreliable narrator when it came to how magical and happy life in the garden was before Pink Diamond screwed her over, and I think it's a shame that the show will never address it and we'll probably never have any in depth interaction with Spinel again. Most of SU fandom has jumped on the "Then, everything changed when Pink Diamond attacked" train, so I'll just hang out here in the anonymous shadows.

I watched the original (american) version of Godzilla for the first time, and I feel so bad for Godzilla. The poor buddy was woken up from his nap, and get's attack just for walking around some. Its not his fault he's so destructive! (I know he's a metaphor for the nuclear bombs, but still!)

BS!: I was also shocked to find out the 'American' version added the white guy to the original Japanese movie by using body doubles of the original actors to make 'new' scenes and adapted scenes, framing him as the hero. I wasn't surprised at all to hear the removed most of all the nuclear references.

I randomly got into Chuck during my free trial of Amazon Prime, and I'm really sorry that I missed the window for whatever fandom this show may have had. I hope if anyone ever made a Chuck drinking game, you had to take a drink every time Sarah lost her gun during a fight.

Hard same, OP. Also it would help if people would finally accept the whole trans trend in fic and headcanons as the shiny new fetish that it is instead of trying to disguise it as activism. Would probably cut back on he untagged stuff a it vecause that is done a lot by people trying to teach readers ~a lesson~.

Perfectly loving? The only time we saw them, his mom was being an asshole to him. And I said, "Ah, that's where he gets it from." There are other reasons in the series that gets spelled out about why he's an asshole to Deku in particular too, so while I don't think he's the most interesting character either, you'd have to really not be paying attention to think he's an asshole for no reason.

Went camping, had a nice fire, looked at the stars~
Other than that, I caught up on Battle of the Blades! So happy it's back again!

That's what I was coming down to say sdlfjs

(Anonymous) 2019-09-30 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the anon above you, and the version of this I've seen the most is: A and B really like each other but A doesn't like sex at all. A says they will have sex with B because they know B likes sex and it's important to them. They have sex. A doesn't enjoy the sex, but they like making B feel good. So that's the version I'm against labeling as dubcon because, well, it's not.

But I agree that the scenarios you describe are dubcon-y/noncon-y.

There's this specific eau de parfum my brain has decided is the one a particular character I love would use on days he wore a scent. It's $295 CAD for 50 ml. I very nearly bought a bottle during the last Sephora sale. I didn't. But I really wanted to.

I don't like to think of myself as a thirsty fangirl, but I guess if the shoe fits...

(For the record, I collect perfume anyway, so the idea of spending bonkers money on a fragrance isn’t totally foreign to me. But the most I’ve spent before was $200 for twice the volume.)
