whenever i've had a non-canon ship, every time i've seen the other shippers go on and on about how hateful/awful/terrible the canon-LI is i've always wondered what canon they're watching bc the canon-LI is never anywhere near as terrible as fandom makes them out to be. and in all honestly most of the time i end up really liking the canon-LI, and sometimes even jump-ship to the canon one bc i like it or i get fed up of the bitter fellow-shippers determined to make something that's perfectly fine seem like satan incarnate.

Oh, lord, I feel this secret hard. I've shipped quite a few non-canon and canon ships involving the same characters. I get that it can be hard sometimes to find a reason to explain a character leaving a canon relationship for a non-canon one, but yeah, unless they're already mean in the canon itself, I don't get that mindset, either. I hate that some people make it like you can only like one or the other. I just want my favorite characters to be happy, and whether they're happy with their canon love interest or the non-canon ones I like, I'm good either way :).
