I had a headache yesterday and a not-as-bad headache today and I'm not sleeping well and I don't know why

Just got off the treadmill. So much sweat. Work was easy because out production plant was closed so we had only one meeting.

Court this morning. then signed up for more Spanish classes (going to have 3 a week now). Then the library to check out some Spanish audiobooks. Then I did some Spanish work. Closed my eyes for a couple hours since I have a splitting headache (thanks, ragweed). About to eat dinner.

My favorite jewelry designer has a big Labor Day sale every year and this year I bought a piece that I've had my eyes on for a long time. I absolutely love it. It's just a ring but it certainly makes me happy and when I've got a fresh manicure it's even better, lol.

How far do you stretch canon?

It's been forever since I've played the game, but I remembered a conversation I had once about Naoto, (the character in secret 5 yesterday) and how she pretends to be a guy because she doesn't believe can be a detective if she presented herself as a girl. Something Naoto mentions at is that she was inspired to become a detective from reading detective novels, and how you never see a female detective as a lead. This is obviously false (Nancy Drew, to name just one) but I remember talking to someone who claimed that even if Sherlock Holmes existed in the Persona universe, that doesn't mean Nancy Drew does.
I'm curious as to how much leniency you see, or you yourself give canon to suit your tastes, and how valid such a statement might be?

Would a Japanese high school student know about Nancy Drew? She's semi-obscure with teenagers now even in the US.

Regarding Naoto, Nancy Drew might exist in the Persona verse, but how popular is the series in Japan? How likely is it that Naoto would have encountered it?

I can't speak with any authority on the kinds of detective stories told in Japan, but maybe all the big names really are male characters? It's worth considering.

I'm generally a lot more inclined to go with Doylist explanations than Watsonian ones, IE, just say "OK the creator messed up" rather than try to find some in-universe rationalization for it.

I also generally don't care a lot about the integrity of canon in general and in fact would prefer to just stop talking about 'canon' as an idea pretty much forever.

Even if somehow Nancy Drew, Mrs. Marple, and Lisbeth Salander didn't exist in universe while Sherlock Holmes did, there are female detective characters in Japanese fiction.
