148. I feel the same about H/D. When I try to read through some rec-lists it feels like reading the same stuff over and over again. With the same lame characterization and dull dialogue.

There are some exceptions, though. What comes to mind is Transfigurations, have you read it? As far as I remember, it was good, and I read it after I had already mostly stopped reading H/D. I can't remember who the author is, but I can check if needed. One of the well known artists in the fandom has drawn some art for it.

There was also some fic where Draco was living in the muggle world (I think) and had a child with a black woman, which led to some talk about being a halfblood when the kid found out about Lucius' views. I think that Harry had a kid, too. I can't remember the title, though, but I might have found the fic somewhere here:

I saw Transfigurations recced a lot, so I probably have started it at some point. I'm not sure why I haven't finished it but the back of my mind says it could have been one of those novel-length fics my ADD-mind couldn't handle.

Oi, thanks a lot for the link, that site looks like exactly what I was looking for (my google-fu seems to be weaker than I thought). I'm not too keen on children but I'll definitely try to find the fic you're talking about, thank you for the rec.

That's possible. I think that I might have problems at first, too, and I don't think I've read it more than twice.

It's a treasure, really! It's kept me entertained for hours! The crossover with slash section under "pairings" has some fun stuff, too, if you like that kind of thing. I've started shipping Xander/Harry because of this:

And I do like crossovers but all the recs I find seem to be with anime I haven't seen or Highlander (am I the only person who hasn't seen it?). One can't go wrong with BtVS/HP, though. ;)

Oh, yes, I will spend much time on this site (and I wanted to get some studying done these holidays, dammit). Thanks again!

Ha! Actually my attention span sucks so much that when I try to watch a movie or something, I have to play solitaire or do something else so I don't start thinking of something else. XD I also usually check my e-mail and LJ etc several times while reading a fic - I'm currently in the middle of one. XD Rereading fics is actually easier than reading new fics because I know what will happen, so I don't have to concentrate as much. I've already got the images in my head, so to speak. :)

I've seen at least three of the Highlander films, but not the series, and I think that most crossovers are with the series. I've seen lots of crossovers with Anita Blake, which I haven't read. Don't bother with most of the Naruto crossovers, at least. I've seen some that weren't too bad, but most are just... no.

I'm exactly the same way - that's how I became an expert in Minesweeper and Spider Solitaire ;) When reading something I also often find myself skipping directly to the dialogue and then having to reread the paragraph to actually know what's happening. And films are the worst. They made me take up the stupid habit of taking breaks to get up and randomly walk around my flat or check out the fridge even when I'm not hungry just not to sit around doing basically nothing.

If it weren't for crossover fics, I probably wouldn't even know Highlander existed. Same goes for Anita Blake and some other apparently popular recent authors whose names I can't for the love of god remember. I see a lot of Yu Yu Hakusho as well (another show I probably will never watch) and yeah, I try to stay away from anything Naruto related as far as I can.

Harry/Draco used to be the ship I absolutely hated. HATED WITH A FIREY PASSION. I only started to like it post-Epilogue, and I still cannot stand fics set during their Hogwarts years, for the most part.

HOWEVER, I can highly Kiss A Boy In London Town(And Other Misadventures of a Society Whore) (http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=16741&chapter=1&font=&size=) for it's wonderful characterization of both Draco and Harry, and it's really really interesting plot. And also Currency (http://www.piratequeen.ca/hp/currency1.html) is a more recent favorite.
