Yes. As people said upthread - Tony Stark! Who I love. Also Doctor House. Love him, too! I didn't like the series much but I *did* like Jessica Jones. I think the saving grace of these characters is that they genuinely care, even though they try to hide it or pretend they don't, and when you know that, you can really like them.

Absolutely! If anything, I think this type of character tends to almost care too much, in a way. They're the classic overcompensater. They feel faulty and vulnerable so they project cool indomitability, and they care too much so they act like they don't give a shit. Though the fact that they actually care too much can be buried pretty deep, depending on the character. Sometimes even they don't know it about themselves. I think this type of character often believes their own hype, or loses track of which parts of their own hype are real and which parts aren't and ends up with a muddled self-identity for it. *squishes all of them*
