Re: What is the dumbest thing you've seen someone do recently?

My stepfather is just like this daily. The thing that gets me most is how he always uses scissors or anything sharp pointed towards himself or his other hand. He's injured himself multiple times doing this, and I stop and correct him every time I see it, but HE STILL DOES IT. I had to drive him to hospital because he cut through the tendon on his non-dominant hand once and had to have surgery. STILL DOES IT.

He somehow completed a Masters program at University.

oh god. I've only seen little kids do that.

He does a lot of things in unsafe and stupid ways. It is exactly like living with a small child. I watch him more carefully in the kitchen and garage than I do my nephews. I have to keep my tools locked up so he doesn't use them. I caught him sticking a screw driver in an electric socket because "the plug wasn't going in right" once. Fork in the toaster to retrieve bagel. On the ladder without locking the sides so it was bending as he was climbing. I don't have time to list everything. There is so much.

He's like a very large toddler who thinks he can do no wrong. Honestly that's probably why he can't learn anything. He will never admit he did anything wrong so he doesn't learn from his mistakes. He just insists he was doing it right all along.

Yes! My mother does this constantly. She'll hold the blade of a knife while trying to slice things, pointed towards herself, an be surprised when she gets cut! I'll have to bandage up her fingers, and when I get back from washing up, she'll literally be doing the exact same thing! The best answer I've got from her is that 'she doesn't know how to so it any other way'! I'll show her how, point out how chefs hold their knife while she's watching her cooking shows, but she jus doesn't listen!
The worst part is that she doesn't use common sense that you can't see heat. She will reach into the over to grab food after it's been cooked! Grab the metal of the pan while the burner is still on, and /PUT HER HAND IN BOILING WATER/ because she thinks it won't hurt if she only does it for a second! Holy shit, I don't know what to do with her sometimes!
