I don't think there are many legitimately terrible canon love interests. I mean, there are plenty of shows where everyone is terrible or ones where the characters are terrible for each other, rather than one being really terrible.

I do get that character-bashing can be cathartic, but I would rather characters just face consequences for their terrible actions (and honestly, I feel like there is a lot to work with here) than they be made into caricatures of themselves. Though, I will admit that sometimes, it is really satisfying when a character I don't like is vilified, but it's actually not usually a love interest.
