How often? what is your blood type?

Only when there's a blood drive nearby and someone can drive me home (I fainted the last time I donated blood). My blood type's A positive.

Pretty often? I usually donate blood plasma instead of whole blood, and you can donate plasma every two weeks. I'm on a break because I'm pretty sure I have a cold, and I also took a long break from donating earlier this year because I was having weird reactions to some medication I'd been put on.

I donate blood every two months because they come to my work. I am O+.

I would, but my blood disorder prevents me from doing so.

I am an A+ though. Which, when I found out, surprised me, because I always thought I was O+.

I've never been allowed unless they lifted that 'spent too much time in Europe' mad-cow-scare ban.

I think I'm O something? They did test me once at school (before I found out I couldn't donate), but that was 20 years ago and I forget.

I can't. I'm so severely anemic that doing so would put me in the hospital. :/

I... am also just realizing I don't know my bloodtype off the top of my head.

Yeah, not quite as often as I could (you can do whole blood every 56 days, which works out to 6.5 times a year), but 4 or 5 times a year.

I'm B+.

I try to do it at least once a year, because my blood type is a little rare-- I'm B-.

However: I feel weird about it. I'm a gay woman, and I absolutely fucking hate that I'm allowed to donate and my best friend-- a gay man-- is not allowed to because he's in a committed relationship of ten years with another man and *gasp* they have sex sometimes. It doesn't matter if they get STD screening before and it shows clean, if they had sex within a year they're rejected. I hate it. And I'm torn because I loathe supporting that bigoted nonsense, but I also feel obligated to donate because I'm in good health and my blood type is rare.

That's dumb. It seems like a leftover from the "AIDS scare" of the 80s that never got thrown away.

that is exactly what it is. and it's stupid. (they are supposed to test all blood anyway)

I can't because of some of the medications I take. Which is sad because I'm O neg, a universal donor. On the other hand, my veins are deep and I'm a super hard stick, so giving blood would probably be a real challenge even if I could.

I have a few times in the past, but can't any more because of some medication I've been on in the past. I'm AB+ though, so not massively in demand

I try to, but i'm always too anemic. I'm A-, so i *should* donate, but....iron!! :D
