"Harry apparently never told his children about Slytherin war heroes."

...

He.

He NAMED his child after one of them??? "You were named after one of the bravest men I ever knew?" While there's no canon evidence to support that he told Albus SEVERUS about it, he probably DID?

I don't disagree with the rest or the idea behind this (Heck, I'd read about another evil wizard coming to power when the gang is all old), but uh?

funny how harry's son is named after a slytherin but still doesn't want to be sorted to that house because slytherins apparently still have cooties.

it's like nobody learned anything.

I mean, did the Slytherins learn things, though? Because I don't think 'be nicer to Slytherins' actually should be the takeaway lesson unless the Slytherins have systematically reformed their house.

The entire system seems pretty broken, tbh, which is everyone's responsibility, not just the kids who, despite nods to choice being important (if they fall in love with a Gryffindor), are pretty much evil from birth.

It takes more than a generation to erase bullshit beliefs but yeah I get it, no one's even trying to do better on the page except a nod between Harry and Draco.

+1

We get a 5-second glimpse into the future, and it takes more than one generation to fix things like that. The epilogue ain't great, but OP is making complaints that aren't really a problem.

It was JKR's call what she wanted to do with the epilogue. It was her choice to make it a 5-second glimpse into the future.

i see your point and in that case i like to imagine a future where Harry's son is sorted into Slytherin with Draco's kid and the two slowly become good friends.
litalex: Jefferson from John Adams, lounging around (LOL!Jefferson)

Which is exactly what happened in The Cursed Child. ... Or do we not talk about that in here?

"Hey son I've presumably lived with your whole life, I know you have a terrible fear of being sorted into Slytherin (a fear which obviously arose in a perfect void) so let me tell you about The Good Slytherin, who I have clearly told you about many times before."

...or not.
