It's okay as a concept, but I like a lot of things more so I'm not big on the genre's cultural saturation.

I like the concept of superheroes a lot and I like a lot of superhero things. But what I like the most about superhero genre stuff is when it's weird and out there and a Jack Kirby fever dream, or operatic and intense and larger than life, or using the superhero framework to tell interesting stories about people. I always hated deep lore and big event comics and crossover books, and I don't much care for the MCU or DC movies as a franchise, although individual movies can be good.

I enjoy them a lot, but I understand people who have grown tired of it because of the way the genre has saturated the media. I like having a lot of choice but I also think maybe it’s time for them to slow down and let something else have its day for a bit.

So long as there’s still one or two shows for me to watch. :P

Batman is the only one that's ever clicked for me. I grew up on the wonderfully camp 60's series and the animated series. I can appreciate that Superman/Spiderman and the Marvel/Avengers stuff looks like fun, but it's never grabbed me the same way.

I've never liked them, mostly because of the stupid outfits and the idea that people with superpowers who decide to fight crime would dress up in said stupid outfits. yah yah I know not all comics are about superpowered people fighting crime, I don't care, since the concept was built on that premise. I have a fundamental disconnect and apparently that's the line my suspension of disbelief won't cross.

what I do like is genre-breaking. such as, Tiger & Bunny where the stupid outfits are deliberate because of TV and marketing. I'm also fine with powers in nearly every other iteration, be it magic or mutation or science or a weird fruit, because of nteresting takes on how people with such powers deal with them. there's just something about the juxtaposition of people with powers becoming vigilante heroes that doesn't work for me.

I love a lot of superhero stuff, but it's pretty much all so shallow? Even the stuff that makes such a big deal of how deep and complex it is, it's usually just "Also shallow, but they curse and there are boobs".
Marvel's heroes are getting progressively stupider as the studio tries to wring more money out of every movie; The Boys presents a universe where heroes are horny violent arseholes and also the actual protagonists are... horny violent arseholes, wow; DC is boring and underlit (when I say it's too dark, I'm being very literal); I like My Hero Academia but the society in that world is super messed up and the only people who seem to want to fix it are supervillains...
I dunno. I'm just getting very tired of the whole genre, despite my great enthusiasm for people flying and punching things really hard.

I like 'em, but like most things, they're WAY more boring with heaps of guilt and angst. How about some people having fun with being able to fly, punch through walls, and manipulate lightning?

(Which is why I like certain Tony Stark fic and certain Avengers found family fic; when they make superheroing FUN.)

Love them, but only in comics or shows. My favorite thing about Marvel and DC is how many stories there are. It takes me a while to care about fictional characters so my favourites are all from long-running series.

I unashamedly love them; even the stupid costumes and ridiculous plots. However, I think movies are the worst way to adapt them. There's just not enough room to get the characters and stories right.

I'm a big fan. I put superheroes in the same category with magic. I love it. I love it when characters have special powers. Fantasy is my favorite genre.

Whether it's a mild dislike or a full on loathing, what food trends annoy you? For me, the "bacon in everything" trend was very tiresome, and I'm still trying to ride out the wave of "sriracha in everything".
