That's a good reason not to game with people who enjoy a darker tone to their RP, or not to join that villain game people you otherwise enjoy RPing with are starting up. It's not a good reason to make moral judgements about the people themselves.

Also, agreed with the commenter above - if you have a good group, you can opt out of content you're not comfortable with. Whether that means that content is cut from the game, you're given warning to leave the room if something might touch on your squicks, or you're written out of that game but still invited to the next one that won't touch on the shit you dislike depends on the group and the specific game, but there are definitely escape valves.
