I grew up in the era of Rugrats, Ed Edd & Eddy, Ren and Stimpy, etc. SU's art style might not be everyone's cup of tea, but comparatively I can't see what anyone means by ugly. Simplistic and stylized, sure.

I grew up on...hrmmmmm....well, classic Loony Toons, the stuff that animated on Sesame Street that looked like a 60's Love-in poster come alive....

We only got three channels, so, not a lot of choice.

Later animated stuff i liked was Ralph Bakshi stuff.

It just looks...ugly to me.
