I'm super late, but basically what the other person was saying. For slash ships, I know that they're not going to become canon so I just don't even worry about it at all and basically feel like anything goes. But with het, there's always the chance that it theoretically could, so I find myself basing my shipping on various canon-related factors (for example like whether either/both are in relationships or where the writers plan on taking things, as in this case).

It might not make logical sense, but for whatever reason, it's how my brain works lol.
