Honestly I adored their dynamic because it was a rare case of a man+woman friendship where it was never romantic and stayed that way. Like they'd both die for each other in a heartbeat, and they absolutely love the shit out of each other, but they don't want to be with each other and it never lessened their relationship or was treated like that was a bad thing.

And I love romance myself! But I also love friendships and don't think m+f versions of those get anywhere near enough love most media. (I also love the Clint+Natasha dynamic for the same reason, two very close friends who adore one another, but it's not romantic)
