Before the show aired, I really wanted them to be attracted to each other and have UST and be the endgame couple and all that. I just generally ship Holmes/Watson, and the fact that Watson was going to be a woman in this iteration made it seem like there was FINALLY a chance for the Holmes/Watson relationship to be canon. So I was disappointed when the show didn't go that way.

However, I really can't be bitter about it, because as the secret says, there aren't many stories (especially TV) that let a male and female lead be extremely close and important to each other without pairing them up romantically. So I accept the relationship for what it was and give a nod to the show for doing what it did there.

I never did watch past episode 3, though, and I have no interest. I just found it all kind of clunky and obvious. But that's how I feel about 98% of Big 3 (Big 4?) Network TV these days, not just Elementary.
