Same.

Plus in the last season, did he not specifically say "I love you" and there was never any "Oh, but WHAT DOES HE MEAN?" drama. It was just understood.

That was in the second to last season, but yeah. In the last episode there are a few scenes that ARE kind of ambiguous/a gray area, and it's weird because the relationship is kind of romantic (or at least what's more traditionally perceived to be romantic) in some ways (there are several aspects that aren't really present in most friendships) but definitely not in any sort of traditional way.
