I hate to tell you but....

It's possible, but it's also possible that you have a mutual fave who just happens to be having a moment, where they appeal to a broader audience, including people whose tastes just don't line up with yours. I know people who share faves with me but also have some basic faves-- and who would consider my other faves too weird to crush on. Sometimes it just boils down to people having more than one type when it comes to celeb crushes.

I tend to like quirky character actors, and tend to not care for men who are traditionally handsome. Three out of four of my faves have been in things where they've gotten big and attracted big fandoms-- including people who also like handsome leading men and boy bands and other more normal crush fodder. (technically, one out of the three is handsome in addition to being weird, but the fourth of my faves I might just be in a fandom of one for)

So maybe your fave is basic. There's no shame in that. But it ain't necessarily so.

huh, interesting. I was always kinda confused by people who liked side characters, as I have to like main character just to finish watching/reading media. Sometimes I end up shipping the main with a conventionally unatractive side character but not often. However I know people who Crush. On. Side. Characters. in every single fandom and it's so unuusual to me, in a good way, but still.

So long as *you* enjoy them, and don't find them boring and basic....who cares?
Enjoy!

Yes.

So stop right now. You must be attracted to someone who is different from all the rest because... reasons.

Or you can like who you like.

Yes, you can examine why you like someone and figure out if it has something to do with popularity. It probably does, at least a little - familiarity does seem to play a factor in preferences and the more popular someone or something is, the more they will be around. Though, sometimes it really does breed contempt.

Eh. If you like something, I don't see the point in worrying what other people think of you liking something. Having a "basic" fave might not impress anyone, but it's not harming anyone, either. And do you like things solely to impress other people? Probably not, right?

I really don't get what is wrong with basic? What does basic even MEAN? Not an asshole? Symetric face? The cliché frat boy white guy?
You find him hot, so who cares?

I heard basic has something to do with liking pumpkin spice flavor.

I hear tell it’s IPAs for fellas.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-09 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
I assume they mean that liking this particular actor is basic

(Anonymous) 2019-11-09 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking Hollywood handsome heroic type, or very mainstream, but not sure.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
We live in a basic boy society

(Anonymous) 2019-11-09 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Word. "You're so basic!" - is a new curse word

(Anonymous) 2019-11-09 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Why the fuck do you even care...?
