It's possible, but it's also possible that you have a mutual fave who just happens to be having a moment, where they appeal to a broader audience, including people whose tastes just don't line up with yours. I know people who share faves with me but also have some basic faves-- and who would consider my other faves too weird to crush on. Sometimes it just boils down to people having more than one type when it comes to celeb crushes.

I tend to like quirky character actors, and tend to not care for men who are traditionally handsome. Three out of four of my faves have been in things where they've gotten big and attracted big fandoms-- including people who also like handsome leading men and boy bands and other more normal crush fodder. (technically, one out of the three is handsome in addition to being weird, but the fourth of my faves I might just be in a fandom of one for)

So maybe your fave is basic. There's no shame in that. But it ain't necessarily so.

huh, interesting. I was always kinda confused by people who liked side characters, as I have to like main character just to finish watching/reading media. Sometimes I end up shipping the main with a conventionally unatractive side character but not often. However I know people who Crush. On. Side. Characters. in every single fandom and it's so unuusual to me, in a good way, but still.
